Moving on, once covid-19 trauma is over.

( A look at how the global pandemic has affected so many people and how we can begin to move on now that the worst is over.)

"In the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, global prevalence of anxiety and depression increased by a massive 25%, according to a scientific brief released by the World Health Organization (WHO) today."

The world was not prepared to declare a pandemic. Life as we knew it was rolling along like usual. There were problems everywhere and at the same time a great many wonderful things were taking place as well.

March 2020 is a time that will be etched into history as the world declared the covid-19 pandemic and every single person, in every single country was affected whether aware of it or not.

Like a massive butterfly effect with waves that rippled out far, fast and furiously across the globe.

Lockdowns started, entire countries were in essence "closed" and millions upon millions of people told to stay in there homes. Children were pulled out of schools and given computers to learn on, parents were shifted out of the office and into their homes to work, every program/sport/group/form of entertainment was stopped.

The world as it had been known stopped and people waited. Some doubtful and upset, others fearful and scared, some anxious and almost all but forgotten.

People lost friends, family and loved ones. The virus claimed many, other illnesses and untreated ailments including mental health ones claimed others.

There were demonstrations of solidarity and support amidst the constant news of suffering, illness and devastation. People tried in whatever ways they could to help others and keep spirits lifted.

Time, however, can wear down even the bravest, strongest and most patient of us and after 2 years of struggles the world was in desperate need of a shift.

Slowly in some places and quickly in others the world began to "open" back up. Just as people had entered the pandemic they came out of it with varying emotions: fear, panic, anxiety, depression, anger, hatred, resentment, sorrow and the list could go on.

Some positive emotions were thrown in as well: relief, joy, happiness, and excitement.

Regardless of which list you resonate with most there is no denying that most people if not ALL have been impacted by one or more of those negative emotions along the way.

People are now doing their best now to move on, to catch up and to rebuild what was lost.

In some cases it was a loved one, in others it was a job, a home, a business, a career, an opportunity.

Healing from these changes and losses can take a long time and more than one action to achieve it.

People are focusing a lot on physical health and striving to improve theirs in any way they can. The frustration and anger of having to wait to have surgeries done and treatments has caused some issues that people were struggling with before to become worse and their struggles even harder. They carry those negative emotions while still trying to move forward.

People who were happy and successful in their businesses have become depressed and resentful after having lost their livelihood and rightfully so. Their feelings are just as valid.

People who were marginalized and struggling with mental health conditions and lack of supports prior to the pandemic are sad, depressed and feel even lower than they did before in most cases.

Services that weren't able to meet demand before see an even longer line now of those seeking support and finding fewer people able to offer it.

After 2 years of intense negative emotions, energies and experiences the world now needs to heal in so many ways.

We need to continue to find ways to improve our physical health through diet, exercise and treatments/therapies.

Our mental health and spiritual/energetic well-being however is also in need of some major attention.

Prior to the pandemic every single one of us at some point in our lives had to endure some kind of hardship or go through some sort of experience that filled us with negative emotions/energy. During the pandemic I don't know of many people, if any who weren't at some point overcome with the negativity that it brought and spread throughout the world.

Now, more than ever we need to start raising our vibe. It sounds very "Woo Hooey" to some people I know but it's important to talk about even if it makes us a little uncomfortable. Even if we think it sounds silly.

It's been proven time after time that repeated exposure to negative energy can have detrimental effects on any living thing, including us.

It's now that we need to strengthen our physical health while doing the same to our mental well-being and our spiritual or energetic well being.

This means we need to seek the help we need on ALL levels. We need to ask for help, admit if we are struggling, and find ways to boost our selves up to a higher state of being.

Our mental health can be strengthened and supported through psychiatric treatments, psychotherapy, crisis and addiction interventions etc.

Our spiritual (if you feel so) or energetic (if you don't relate to a spiritual belief) well-being is just as important and needs just as much attention.

I was drawn to energy work because I saw some incredible improvements in the lives of those who experience it. After 2 years of being "dragged down" on an energetic level I wanted to do something that could help people carry less of that weight.

Think of it like this ( If you've seen the 2006 Drama movie The Guardian with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher you'll get this analogy quite easily)

If you were to be thrown into a swimming pool and made to hold a basket above your head and someone slowly started adding rocks to it - how long could you tread water if the basket was empty?

I'm sure it would be different for all of us however, now imagine if that basket was already half full of rocks or more than half full!

That time you just came up with would be a whole lot shorter. You might sink right away.

The weight of our emotions and experiences in our lives can weigh us down and last a lot longer than we are often aware of. Even when we think we have processed or dealt with all the baggage we thought we had there can often be things we never knew we were still carrying.

Now it's time for the world to start releasing some of the weight from their shoulders.

It's time to start working on bringing our mental, spiritual and energetic well-being back into balance.

It's now that we need to empty those baskets so that in the event that something as drastic as the pandemic were to ever strike again we wouldn't be thrown into the pool with a basket already so full we can't keep our heads above water.

If you are struggling in anyway I encourage you to reach out to a healthcare provider, mental health worker, or therapist of some kind. Energy work is NOT medical advice and should never be taken as such but it is VERY complimentary to other practices and can support a sense of well-being, promote healing and balance.
